Barack Obama recently had a private lunch meeting at the White House with Joe Biden, during which he cautioned the Democrat president about the significant popularity of Donald Trump in the lead-up to the 2024 election, as per reports.
Sources revealed to the Washington Post that, in their discreet meeting, Obama assured Biden of his commitment to assisting the Democrat president’s re-election campaign in 2024.
Shortly after this meeting, allegations with potential political motivations were brought against President Trump, according to the report.
According to the insiders cited by the Post, Obama approached the subject delicately to avoid hurting Biden’s sentiments, instead focusing on Trump’s enduring influence.
Obama alerted Biden to the possibility that Trump could prove to be a more formidable opponent than many Democrats anticipate.
“Obama’s visit to the White House was part of a routine catch-up between the two individuals who had collectively served in the White House for eight years,” reports the Post.
“During their lunch, Obama underscored his concerns not about Biden’s political capabilities, but rather acknowledged Trump’s firm hold on the Republican Party, as stated by the sources.”
Eric Schultz, a senior adviser to Obama, remarked:
“We place significant emphasis on identifying innovative methods to engage new audiences, particularly tools that can be directly linked to voter mobilization or volunteer engagement.
“Our selection of opportunities is thoughtful as our goal is to make a meaningful impact.”
TJ Ducklo, a spokesperson for the Biden campaign, commented, “President Biden deeply appreciates his steadfast support and is eagerly anticipating campaigning alongside President Obama once again in 2024 to secure victory for the American people.”
According to The Washington Post:
Obama, who retains considerable popularity among Democrats, is the party’s most sought-after representative. Although his precise role in the 2024 cycle remains to be defined.
Obama’s associates suggest that he is likely to adopt his strategy from recent elections.
In 2020 and 2022, Obama held large rallies in battleground states, organized fundraisers for Biden and other Democratic candidates, and produced advertisements for some of the most competitive congressional races.
He also participated in unconventional settings to connect with young voters, such as ESPN’s Manningcast during “Monday Night Football,” collaborations with TikTok influencers, and an interview during the NBA Finals.
…Obama is slated to intensify his political involvement in the upcoming months, commencing with a fundraising event in Martha’s Vineyard later in August to support the National Democratic Redistricting Committee.
This organization, initiated by Eric Holder, who served as attorney general under Obama, aims to counter the Republicans’ accomplishments in redrawing legislative and congressional districts.
Obama is anticipated to commence fundraising efforts for Biden in the autumn, according to a person familiar with the plans.
